Gig in support of Ramana's Garden
Thursday 10th June 2004 - Imagine, Norwich
Jomarl along with two other groups "Sargasso Trio"
and "Djole" done a charity gig in aid of an Orphanage
in Northern India called Ramana's Garden. The Gig was organised
by Rachel Entwhistle whom upon her travels in India stumbled across
the Orphanage an made a pledge to Prabhavati, the lady who ran
the joint that upon her return to the U.K she would raise funds
for the Orphanage, thus the Charity gig at Imagine Cocktail Bar,which
turned out to be a resounding success!!
Thank God for summertime!!Thursday night and the city was bangin hot all
day so that warmth followed all the way through the night and it was very
warm and muggy, there was that "tightly packed Brazilian boulevard
with music pumpin everywhere kinda atmosphere" and so the night unfolded.......
The
first act to brace the stage were "Sargasso Trio",a threesome
who have had all their musical roots deeply entrenched in the genre's
of soul, salsa, brazilia, funk, indie, hip hop and latino. They trail-blazed
the opening spot with their haunting yet uplifting set which rose an rose
in crescendo, vibe, presence and true summertime flava for all the punter's
to get on down and pardy hardy!!!Which they so did!!The threesome performed
with a mixture of instrumental an vocal track's,they also played the varied
instruments in the band thus giving a totally off the hook feel to the
term "live"!!!
The second act to go on was "Djole",a Salsarian,Latino-African
flavoured set up with lashing's Braziliano Drumming and Percussion to
give you such a "positive vibration" flowin through your heart
and soul which cannot help but make you move and groove to their beating
drum's.There were people everywhere getting down to the sounds of "Djole".They
worked their set gettin the peepz to feel their funky summer rhythm's
with people dancing an jiving in near trances!! The audience also joined
in an were hurtin the percussion as well!!!

Jomarl stormed on after a few complications which were soon resolved. The
set had Changed for one night only and of all the crazy things
that could've happened, the lads brought the house down for the
peepz who where without a doubt feeling the Jomarl vibe, with everybody
twisting an shaking on the dance floor with dance moves akind
to some of the freakiest moves this earth has ever seen, totally
lost in music, including the band!! Jomarl took it the bridge and
back with their blinding headline set though short of their classic's
like "You mus be on Drug'z man" and "Gangster in
My Mind" they not only burned the dancefloor but the crowds
as well with people gettin their freak on all over the joint!!!
Jomarl closed the evening in a true
"spirit lifting vibe" leaving all the punter's to enjoy their
musical come down as everybody including band member's meandering in a
zig zag pattern to their bedsteads Thus calling an end to a marvellous
night of "live" music provided by three of the most exciting, fresh
and different act's this city has to offer!!!All in aid of Ramana's Garden, nice
one!!!!
